This Shit Has Just Got To Stop

The car on my insurance policy has been broken down since June and I haven’t been driving it although I am continuing to pay the monthly insurance premiums. I’ve been really having a problem getting the part needed to fix the exhaust so the car will pass the state emissions test so that I can then get the new goddamned tags. My mechanic has ordered the part from several different places, but it never seems to ship and arrive at his fucking shop. I’m getting frustrated as hell at not having my car to drive and even more frustrated at paying a monthly insurance premium for a car that is not being driven, even to the end of the driveway to fetch the mail when the weather is too extreme to walk.

Tomorrow I will have to change things up and start driving a different car and make the changes to my insurance. Getting insurance for a replacement car should be pretty fucking easy. And it might even be cheaper. I’ll definitely be gathering car insurance quotes first thing in the morning and make the needed changes before the next weekend. There is nothing worse that throwing money right out the fucking window each and every first of the month, this shit has just got to stop.

Your Copier Can Make Or Break Your Ass

The company that I currently work for has outgrown our space in Cool Springs, but they aren’t sure what to do about growing and taking on more liabilities in this uncertain economic climate. They’ve been kicking around a few ideas, like office sharing, working from remote locations, or just biting the fucking bullet and getting a second or branch office. The least likely option would be to look for a larger office in Cool Springs. That is the most expensive real estate in Middle Tennessee, if not the whole state. Even more expensive than downtown. I was thinking that a small second office someplace where the rent is a lot cheaper would make sense for our back office operations.

For example, we could move the entire accounting department to Murfreesboro or Spring Hill. Everyone here would take their computers and their other personal office shit with them. We could buy some nice but inexpensive used office furniture and conference room equipment. The only thing we would need beyond that would be a copier. We really like the Ricoh Copiers that we are using at the Cool Springs office. It is a work horse – almost never jams and does not use much toner. We might even be able to buy a refurbished copier and save money on that, too. Having a good reliable copier can make or break your ass.

The Whole Fucking Neighborhood With ADT

At the end of most of the driveways in my neighborhood, you will find the little blue and white ADT sign on a stake by the mailbox, indicating that home is protected by an ADT Alarm System. We have never had a serious crime occur anywhere with blocks of my house, knock on wood. But I think a large part of that is because we are an older, established neighborhood and we all take precautions to protect our homes and possessions.

I’m sure every one of my asshole neighbors locks their doors and windows at night. Most park their vehicles inside their garage, and have enough fucking floodlights mounted on the corners of their houses to light up the whole block. When I first moved in, I had a lot of shit to learn about home alarms and I asked around with my neighbors to see which company they were using. Most of them use ADT Security Systems, as I could tell from the signs at the end of their driveways. With this many blue and white signs throughout the whole fucking neighborhood, it’s a silent testament to the effectiveness and trust placed in ADT. And I’m sure it is a good warning to the criminals looking for an easy as shit place to break in, that these homes are protected and not as easy as they might find someplace else.

I Am So Not An Early Person

What a fucked up day this turned out to be. After having to get up at 3:00a.m. in the fucking morning to get my cousin Nancy to the airport for her 6:25a.m. flight back to San Diego, I got back home to find that Nancy had called the house to tell me that her flight had been cancelled and that the next available flight won’t be until 7:45pm tonight. If only she had called my cell phone I could have turned around and gotten her, could have done some sight seeing or something, instead of her hanging around the airport all fucking day. But by the time I got home I was totally beat all to hell from getting up so early, rushing all the way to the airport and my stomach was all upset from all the coffee that I had drank trying to get up some early morning energy. God how I hate early mornings!

At least she has her laptop with her, money for food and drink and a good book that she picked up while she was here for her short stay here. I just needed to give her my cell phone number to use in case of an emergency and I have to go dashing out to the airport for some type of emergency. I don’t know why she only had my home phone number, most people don’t even know I have a land line.

CAT Scan

It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be to drink 2 full bottles of that nasty ass chalk tasting crap that I had to get down before this mornings CAT Scan. One bottle was supposed to taste like banana and the other was supposed to taste like wild berries, what a fucking joke that turned out to be, chalk is chalk, no way to disguise that nasty taste, but I got them down all right, with little effort involved, but it wasn’t fun, I can tell you that!

The technician that did the CAT Scan was pretty nice. He knew that it was cold as shit in that room and he got the job done pretty quickly so that I could get dressed again, warm up and be on my way. On the way home my stomach started acting up and I couldn’t wait to get home so that I could use the bathroom and continue on with my day. Unfortunately using the bathroom didn’t help my stomach much. I started getting a pain in my chest and it felt like my right ovary was going to explode, so instead of continuing on with my day I ended up laying down for a couple of hours. Felt much better after a nice long nap, but my stomach is still not happy.

Asshole Doctors

After dealing with a sharp pain in my left side for a couple of days I decided to go ahead and call my doctor’s office to see if I could come in for a check up. Apparently my dumb ass doctor was on vacation, once again, it must be nice to be able to take off 3 or 4 times a year to go frolicking all across the country. So I had to wait a week and a half to get an appointment, in the mean time the pain was getting worse and worse, but not enough to prompt me to go to the E.R. I hate going to the fucking E.R. here, it always takes at least 6 hours out of my life to go there. Six hours of misery, no thank you.

Finally got to see the doc and he gave me orders to get a bunch of blood work done, along with orders to get a CAT Scan done of my stomach. So I went to get the blood work done today and got the CAT Scan scheduled while I was there. It looks like I have to drink two of those bottles of that nasty chalky stuff two hours before the CAT Scan is done. Oh this is going to be fun!

second life for freinds and educators

Filed under: tech — sara @ 12:48 pm

I noticed that my girl Ellen has now gotten into the second life world. She was flying around the other day uncontrollably, but now she is bouncing back and forth among the different islands, and she is waiting for an invite to check out the inline second life swing / sex club. I am glad to see she is moving into the 3d world.

Another story I saw today was via the wired blog and it talks about educators (treachers) are actually using second life as a way to host virtual classrooms for distance learning and remote tutoring. Very cool, I look forward to this segment of distance learning to grow so that future generation will have opportunities to learn from many people around the world in a way that actually works much better than trying to read a paper book.

What ever happened to that movement years ago to have video casts of the world’s best professors online for free? Is that still happening? I’d love to see that included into a virtual second life library.

Is Google still going to be scanning and indexing the entire library of congress? Wouldn’t it be nice to walk into and enjoy the library of congress without having to travel all the way to DC.

fix8 changes your webcam face to anything you want

This is one of the wildest fucking bits of technology I have seen in a while. The demo looks awesome. You can select and or customize all kinds of animated faces to have on your yahoo messenger or other IM. You have got to see this shit! Make yourself look like a roman warrior, or anime character, or even g busch and make movies with it? This is going to be a lot of fun, I hope it spurs some new viral videos, and a very cool way to posssibly make my new graphic novel!

I am going to play with this thing this weekend and see if I can get a new video on hot video stream!

sms text t-shirts for change

I think this has some potential real power. This new company makes t shirts (customizable no less), that have slogans and a sn sms text number that other people can opo into their cell phones and get more information. Very cool marketing idea, and also a real possibility for sharing information and changes.

Jameson had mentioned that a place in China had received like a million text messages from citizens about building soe new manufacturing plant, and that all of those text messages had gotten the local government to halt plans for the development. Very cool that tech is being used for social change. Very cool indeed.

do your own background check

I found apost at digg that talks about ways to do your own background check to see what ffutre landlords or other people may find out about you. Very cool info to gather for yourself, kind of an eye opener about how much info people can easily get about you though. Stalkers, crazy ex husbands, who knows who uses info sources liek this. I am all for freedom of information, we just need to spread the word for unknowing females about how giving away bits of information could lead some unsavory people into finding out too much about us.
